Debu (Devapriya) Nayak began tabla at age three under his grandfather, a Punjab Gharana pakhawaj and tabla player, later became a disciple of Pt. Radhakanta Nandi of the Benaras Gharana, and has trained with maestros including Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, and Pt. Samir Chatterjee.
